Module 4: Managing Professional Boundaries

This module helps managers understand, establish and maintain healthy professional boundaries, while supporting staff to do the same. Participants will explore how boundaries can gradually erode, recognise early warning signs, and respond appropriately when boundaries are challenged or breached. The module focuses on helping managers guide staff through boundary-related concerns with confidence, consistency and compassion. It covers practical approaches to holding the line, managing complex relationships, addressing breaches, and balancing professional accountability with empathy. Participants will develop tools for effective communication, emotional regulation, de-escalation, ethical decision-making and relationship management, enabling them to support staff and promote safe, respectful and professionally accountable practice in people-focused services.
